The 2015-16 season continues with an evening of music on Saturday 12 March 2016 by the Astrum Guitar Duo of Martin Bickerton and Rory Russell in a concert sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust which supports young musicians it perceives to be of high calibre and with the greatest potential.

Martin Bickerton studied at the Chetham School of Music before gaining a major scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where he graduated with a first class honours degree in 2011.

During his short career, Martin has performed as a soloist at many notable and prestigious venues including Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and he was invited to perform for the Queen as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.

Rory Russell is based in Manchester where he, like Martin, studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. He now teaches there as well as at Manchester University and at Chetham’s School of Music. He performs as a soloist and part of a duo and also with one of Britain’s leading chamber music groups, the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet.

The Astrum Guitar Duo was formed at the Royal Northern School of Music in 2008 when both musicians were studying under Craig Ogden. They are an exciting and dynamic classical guitar duo with a repertoire ranging from Scarlatti, through Albeniz to an award winning self composition.
